Ron King is widely recognized as a superb
professional photographer and has won numerous awards over the
years. His work has appeared in Peoples magazine, among other
national and regional publications, and can be found on the
Internet and in galleries.
Born in the small town of Manson on
Lake Chelan in Eastern Washington, Ron is a graduate of Washington
State University where he studied anthropology. Since 1981, when
he moved to the Skagit Valley, he has owned and
operated photography studios in Mount Vernon, Burlington and,
currently, in a beautiful woodland park at the North Star
Retreat north of Sedro-Woolley.
During his Skagit Valley period, he also began the serious
study of jazz piano, something he had been interested in since his
days at college, and subsequently has established himself as a
busy and popular professional musician.
Ron served many years on the state Board of
Directors of the Professional Photographers of Washington. He is a
member of numerous local organizations involved with business and
the arts, as well as a founding member of the Wednesday Group, a
philanthropic organization and sort of local "think tank."
As far back as 1995, Ron developed an interest in adapting
his computer to use in photography, first restoring old photos,
retouching and enhancing images, but later actually creating
paintings. Over the years, it has become a favorite and
spectacular tool in his business.
All this provided a spectacular head start when
digital cameras attained professional quality, where how he
not only is able to get superior results in retouching
photos, but also in creating beautiful effects such as
turning all or part of any image into a painting, combining
B&W and color in the same photo, and other eye catching
effects that have become a staple of his work.
Adding to his artistic and business endeavors,
Web design has also become an integral part of his business.
Finding a way to integrate his photography
skills, artistic abilities, well- practiced knowledge about
computer design and his love for music, in early 2000 Ron
co-founded a Web business called
worldjazzscene.com, which is an
online gift shop selling jazz recordings and educational
materials.
Today, Ron has more fun than ever - creating art,
taking photos, helping people and performing on the piano -
indeed, making life in the technical age just a little more
interesting for everyone. |
My studio is located at the
North Star Retreat and
features a large 1350 square foot professional photography
studio. It has sets allowing for a large variety of custom
looks for your portrait sittings. Large family and business
groups can be photographed all year long, no matter what the
weather. For those desiring outdoor scenes, we have the
whole North Star Retreat's parkland available whenever you
desire a natural outdoor setting.
My studio hours are by
appointment. Generally I try to keep Saturday, Sunday and
Monday open for location work only, but exceptions are
readily made.
